Online Collections
The Whitworth Art Gallery turned to Virtual Construction when they wanted to make their entire collections available through their new website.
We advised them on the technical aspect of linking a public facing website with an internal, collections management system (KEMu) which stores information on all of the objects in the Whitworth collection as well as any loans, events and exhibitions. The work was performed to our specification by their own internal web team.
This means that the website maintains itself, with staff going about their day to day maintainance of the collections management database.
This has, in turn, opened doors for new and exciting opportunities in relation to online museum exhibitions and interactivity.
